I went to my office feeling cold. [Mr. Gholamhossein Karbaschi], the mayor of Tehran, came. He complained about the pressure of the advertisements directed against him and sought help to deal with it; I advised patience, resistance, and tolerance with the people. I said this situation is because of being on the threshold of the elections.

I went to my office feeling cold. [Mr. Gholamhossein Karbaschi], the mayor of Tehran, came. He complained about the propaganda pressure that was created against him and appealed to him to counter it; I advised patience, resistance and tolerance with people. I said that this situation is due to being on the eve of the elections.

Mr. Mirzadeh, [executive vice president] came. He gave the report of his trip to Mashhad and negotiations with Astan Quds Razavi to clear the demands from the government and praised the good and successful plans there. Mr. [Sidreza] Taqwa came. He talked about the schedule of the Friday imams' seminar and the necessity of starting a propaganda stream against disturbing propaganda streams and suggested the formation of a party.

Asr Dr. Velayati, [Foreign Affairs Minister] came to help the release of hostages in Lebanon. Mr. [Hossein] Mahluji, [Minister of Mines and Metals] came and announced the decision of the Presidium of the Parliament to counter Dr. [Hasan] Habibi's statements regarding the validity of the opinion of the Guardian Council in the interpretation of Article 99 [= discretionary supervision] and demanded a remedy, which I did.

The Supreme National Security Council had a meeting. Before the end of the meeting, I went to Ayatollah Khamenei's office to attend the meeting between the President of Pakistan and the leadership. The negotiations were friendly. I went back to my office and did the work until eight o'clock in the evening. I went to Saadabad residence. We had a private dinner with the Pakistani delegation. We had warm discussions. We agreed on the manner of holding elections in Afghanistan. It was decided not to accept the presence of America in the negotiations. It was also agreed that our marine industries will cooperate. I came home after dinner.
