After the morning prayer, I went to the parliament. At seven thirty, the meeting of the Presidium of the Assembly of Experts was held. Then we went to the hall. The official session started at eight thirty. Mr. Meshkini spoke briefly and then read Mr. Montazeri's letter, in which he thanked the Experts and requested that they refrain from electing him.
After the morning prayer, I went to the assembly. At half past seven, the meeting of the chairmanship of the Assembly of Experts was held. Then we went to the hall. The official meeting was held at half past eight. Mr. Meshkini spoke briefly and then read the letter of Mr. Montazeri, who thanked the experts and asked us to desist from electing him as the Imam's successor during the Imam's lifetime.
Discussions began. Ahmad Agha informed that the Imam told Mr. Mohammadi [Gilani] not to pursue the matter of the message. In both the morning and evening sessions, we discussed this matter and consulted in our breaths, and finally, after Maghrib prayer, it was approved by more than two-thirds of the audience that Ayatollah Montazeri is the prime example of Article 107 of the Constitution. That is, they have been accepted by the people as an authority and leader for after the Imam.
In the afternoon Mr. Tabasi came to my office to have lunch and talk. Regarding the issues of line differences and the need to resolve the differences and the need to coordinate with Mr. [Ayatollah] Khamenei, we negotiated on basic issues.
They applied for Mr. Montazeri's tuition in Mashhad, which was given by endowments in the past and was recently stopped. He also asked for help regarding the return of Hyatt Hotel [Azadi] from Mustafafan Foundation to Astan Quds Razavi, which was built on a waqf land and at the expense of Astana during the Shah's reign, and was handed over to the Pahlavi Foundation for 55 million tomans.
In Mr. Faiz Gilani's breath, he said that Mr. [Syed Morteza] Pasandideh [Imam Khomeini's elder brother] is very angry; Because the order to return his lands in Khomein by Mr. [Mousavi] Khoeini [the country's attorney general] has been suspended and his son Reza has been arrested and expelled from his home. Mr. Pasandideh wants to file a complaint and make a statement. At night, I asked Ahmad Agha to come to our house and we talked about this issue. It was agreed that his shari'a rights would be paid and consoled. Ahmad Agha announced that the experts have been given an appointment to meet with the Imam on Monday.
