Memoirs of Akbar Hashemi – May 14, 1982

I assigned leading Friday prayers to Mr. [Mohammad-Mehdi] Rabbani Amlashi. I read and walked until 11:00 AM, and at noon, I went to Karaj with my family and the wife of the martyr Motahhari. We were the guests of Mr. [Hossein Fereydoun] Rouhani, the governor of Karaj. Messrs. [Abdol-Karim] Mousavi-Ardebili, [Abdol-Majid] Ma'adikhah, [Ali-Akbar] Nateq-Nouri, and Dr. [Hassan] Rouhani were also present. We stayed there until sunset. There was a bit of rain and the weather was good.

I came home at night and listened to the IRIB news. I contacted the front line, and it turned out that Iraq had attacked us in Talaieh, captured an embankment, and taken a few of our men as prisoners. They likely did this to distract our attention from Khorramshahr.
