Memoirs of Akbar Hashemi – March 28, 1984

I was at home until half past three in the afternoon. Ahmad Agha came and brought a letter from Mr. Nabih Bari [political leader of the Amal Movement] from Lebanon [Khattab] to the Imam, who declared his loyalty to the Islamic Republic and complained about Iran's lack of attention to him and the Amal Movement. It was decided to be discussed in the meeting of the heads of forces. There was a discussion about the documents available in the Islamic Revolution Document Center, which may distort some figures, and that the validity of these documents should be preserved.

I spoke with Mr. [Ayatollah] Khamenei on the phone. It turned out that last night's meeting of the fighting clergy community, which was supposed to be held to remove some of the candidates for parliament - such as Mr. [Fakhreddin] Hijazi and [Syed Mahmoud] Doa'i - from the list, was not officialized; I did not participate as a protest. At night, we had a meeting in the president's office. Iranian judges of the Hague Court were also present. Due to the high possibility of confirming the jurisdiction of the court, regarding the handling of the claims of fugitive Iranians with dual American citizenship, our withdrawal from the Hague arbitration was considered. We decided to threaten to leave and protest to the Dutch government for supporting America. The war and the freedom of prisoners and the request of Mr. Nabieh Bari to leave Lebanon and other things were also discussed and decided. At 12 at night, I went to the parliament and slept.
