I was at home. Mr. [Ali] Fallahian, [Minister of Intelligence] and a group of officials of the Ministry of Intelligence who recently arrived from inside Iraq gave a report on the situation in this country.

They visited the cities of Kut, Karbala, Baghdad, Sulaymaniyah, Erbil and Darbandi Khan and claimed that 80% of Iraqis are ready to fight against Saddam's regime. People in the north of the country are led, but in the south, they do not have education or leadership.

Mr. [Hossein] Sadeghi, our ambassador came to Kuwait and reported the situation there. He said that the situation in Kuwait is very bad; They have no water, no electricity, no food and no work, and everything is stagnant. The governors of Kuwait have not yet been able to do anything for the administration of the people, and this has caused dissatisfaction and damage to the people.

They have asked us to send a survey team to [help] rebuild the country's oil industries. Our ambassador demanded to send food items and said that most of the people who stayed in Kuwait are Shiites.

In the evening, relatives came to visit Eid. On the phone, I told Mr. [Reza] Amrollahi, [head of the Atomic Energy Organization], to go to a person named Mr. [Hussein] Shahrashtani, who, according to reports, was the former head of the Iraqi Atomic Energy Organization and was imprisoned and recently released and took refuge in Iran.
