I arrived at the parliament at six thirty in the morning. In the reports, the threat from Iraq and OPEC issues are important. There is hope for obtaining a half-hearted decision in OPEC, and also news had come that two oil tankers had been hit in southern waters by our airplanes, for which I asked the navy for an explanation. It turned out that the air force had hit them.

I arrived at the parliament at half past six in the morning. In the reports, the threat of Iraq and OPEC issues are important. There is hope for a partial decision in OPEC, and there was news that two oil ships were hit in the southern waters by our planes, and I asked the navy for an explanation. It turned out that the air force hit them. Our oil export center has been moved from Siri Island to Lark south of Bandar Abbas, which is safer.

In the public meeting, I spoke briefly about the martyrs of the explosion of the headquarters of the Islamic Republic of Iran Party. I returned to my office at half past nine. Dr. Rouhani came and we talked about the commander of the ground forces. He was scheduled to talk to Colonel [Hossein] Hosni Saadi in general. Mr. Mohajeri, the deputy head of my office, who had gone to the front, came and reported there.

In the afternoon, I prayed congregational prayers with the families of the martyrs who were guests of the assembly and spoke to them between the two prayers. Efat and his friends came to my office. The families of the martyrs had attended the lunch.

The family of Shahid Danesh of Khuzestan came and asked for help to solve their problems. In the evening of the High Islamic Council of Work and 72 soldiers came to celebrate the martyrdom of 72 people. I spoke for them.

The deputy of foreign affairs of the Ministry of Information came and talked about the cooperation of the Ministry of Information with the war and the need to take their facilities seriously.

Mr. [Masuki] Miyake, the special envoy of the Japanese foreign minister, came. He brought Mr. [Shintaro] Abe's [Japanese Foreign Minister] letter about the war, the UN Secretary General's visit to Iran, the American hostages in Lebanon, and America's willingness to appreciate relations with the Islamic Republic. He asked for my opinion. Regarding the war, I said that the condition of removing Saddam and the Iraqi Baath [Party] is serious from our side. He said that Westerners, Arabs and Türkiye are worried about the severe insecurity in the region and the establishment of a new Lebanon in Iraq due to Soviet provocations. I said that it is possible to have a cooperation plan with the neighbors in advance to maintain the peace, unity and territorial integrity of Iraq.

Regarding the coming of the Secretary General, I also said that if he comes with this goal, he will be successful, and if it is other than that, we will not deny his coming, but the success is low. Regarding the American hostages in Lebanon, we are ready to help, but the Americans are not serious about their freedom, and this country wants to secure its other goals, and the appreciation of our relations with the United States needs some preparations, the best of which is to correct the behavior and insidious positions of the United States towards the Islamic Revolution of Iran, and the United States must practically prove that it has stopped its mischief against us. I also answered Mr. Abe's letter.

Our new manager came to Afghanistan and consulted for his work policy there. Dr. Velayati came and gave the report of his trip to Cuba, Nicaragua and Czechoslovakia and discussed the answer to the Pakistani envoy on the Afghanistan issue. Mr. [Hamid] Mirzadeh, the executive deputy of the prime minister, came. He consulted about his trip to China and reported the progress of Kish Island plans.

The night of the meeting of the heads of forces was in the prime minister's office. We decided to answer to Pakistan that the issue of Afghanistan should be resolved with the cooperation of three neighbors, Iran, Pakistan, and the Soviet Union, without the involvement of the United States, and the presence of a representative of the Afghan people is necessary. The operation was supposed to start tonight in Mehran, but it was not done.
