At noon, after prayers, I engaged in reading reports and letters at home. In the afternoon, we held a meeting at Mr. Khamenei's office to resolve disputes between the Ground Forces and the Political-Ideological Department. It was decided that the Ground Forces would respect the rights of the Political-Ideological Department and provide them with personnel and resources.

The President came to our home, and together we went to visit the Imam. We discussed aiding Syria against Israel. The Imam is opposed to our presence on that front under current conditions, believing that the Arabs will not engage in serious warfare and that deeper involvement on our part would cause a standstill on the Iraq war front without achieving anything there either. Ultimately, it was decided that if Syria enters into serious warfare, we will participate.

At noon, after prayers, I engaged in reading reports and letters at home. In the afternoon, we held a meeting at Mr. Khamenei's office to resolve disputes between the Ground Forces and the Political-Ideological Department. It was decided that the Ground Forces would respect the rights of the Political-Ideological Department and provide them with personnel and resources, and that six specific issues—including the Military Academy, where severe disagreements had recently arisen—would be addressed through the arbitration of Mr. [Mohammad Mohammadi] Reyshahri [Prosecutor of the Armed Forces].

I was Ayatollah Khamenei's guest for Iftar. Colonel [Ali] Sayyad Shirazi also stayed, and we made several decisions regarding Lebanon based on the Imam's new guidance. Afterwards, I consulted with Mr. Khamenei on a few important topics. We decided that the Abbas Abad land should be converted into the Friday Prayer Mosalla. We discussed the military, the economy, the war, the party, the Hojjatieh Society, and many other matters. At 11:00 PM, I went to the Majlis and slept. I had the pre-dawn meal alone: dates and watermelon.
