A group of companions did not sleep until the morning to prepare a joint statement and did not reach an agreement on the issue of condemning Amal and Nabih Bari's organization - which Liby insisted on very much. During morning prayer, Dr. Hadi reported their work. At eight o'clock in the morning, Jalod came and I intervened to reach an understanding. We signed the joint statement and minutes of the negotiations.
We went to the airport to fly to Syria. We shared an interview and they gave an official send-off and we flew at around eleven o'clock and arrived in Damascus at half past two in the afternoon. A large number of scholars and Iranians [resident in Syria] were welcomed at the airport. [Abdul Halim] Khaddam [Deputy President of Syria] and several ministers were there.
We came to the residence. We rested in the same place we were in the last trip and then we went to meet Mr. Hafez Assad [Syrian President]. We were supposed to go to the parliament first, but Assad changed the plan. From six to seven in the evening, we negotiated with [Mr. Mahmoud al-Zoubi] the Speaker of the [People's] Parliament of Syria at the residence, and from seven to nine at night we were with Assad. I presented my content regarding the need for Syria to help us in the war and Syria's mistake in the issue of the Palestinian camps - which it demanded to be cleared by the Shia - and the need to cooperate with Libya and... He was supposed to give the answer tomorrow. We said clear and important things.
We were Asad's guests for dinner and after dinner I came to Rozah.
