I stayed home. Mr. [Mohammad] Emami Kashani led the Friday prayers. I spoke on the telephone with the President regarding the contents of the letters from Mr. [Ahmed] Sékou Touré [chairman of the Organization of the Islamic Conference mediation delegation]. He stated that they have once again extended an invitation to meet in another country, and Saudi Arabia has also denied declaring jihad against the Islamic Republic. The letter was brought by the Foreign Minister of Guinea.

Mr. Mohsen Rezaee informed me that the situation at the front line has not changed. We speculate that due to the instability and ambiguous situation in Iraq, along with the announcement accepting a ceasefire from the Iraqi High Command (rather than Saddam himself), the situation of the Iraqis at the front may be disorganized. The war in southern Lebanon continues.

I watered the garden and spent most of the time reading. In the afternoon, Mr. [Hossein] Sheikholislam called and said that Turkey has agreed to allow two aircraft per day to pass through its airspace, but officials are not taking action on this matter. Syria and the Fatah organization have accepted the ceasefire.
