Memoirs of Akbar Hashemi – July 7, 1988

I saw the reports in my office until eight in the morning. The crash of the Iranian Airbus plane is still in the news, and usually in favor of us and against America. I was in the public meeting until nearly ten o'clock. In front of the parliament, there was a gathering of people for the funeral of the martyrs of the Airbus crash. He advised about ending the war through politics and suggested a specific way.

At noon, a group came from the Islamic Propaganda Office in Qom. They wanted funds to send students to the front. In the evening, Mr. Abdullah Nouri came. Negotiations were held about the Ministry of Construction Jihad and the Planning Office of the Armed Forces. A group of innovators of military equipment came. They brought a remote explosive device for demonstration and testing. Because it was not something new, we did not test it. They were introduced to the Minister of the Corps to complete the work.

A group of army commanders came. They had opinions about war. These days, because of the concerns to present the plan, they come a lot and do not present anything important. Mr. Hedayat [Lotafian], the official of Hamza camp, came. As usual, he criticized the top commanders of the army. Mr. Hosni Saadi [Army Ground Force Commander] came and asked for more powers.
