[Mr. Giovanni Castellanta], the new Italian ambassador came to present the credentials. I pointed out that not solving the issue of helicopters casts a negative shadow on relations. Mr. [Hossein] Mahluji came. He gave a report on the status of steel, copper, lead, zinc and gold mining and criticized the statements of Mr. [Ahmed] Janati, [Secretary of the Guardian Council]. Dr. [Hassan] Habibi came for current affairs and consultation regarding the trip to Syria and the invitation of the Crown Prince of Kuwait.

In the evening, Dr. [Syed Mahmoud] Tabatabai, the president of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences, came. He gave a work report and asked permission for some changes. Mr. [Gholamreza] Javadi, the head of the Expediency Recognition Council office, came. Reported work. The Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution had a meeting. Dr. Velayati, [Minister of Foreign Affairs], asked for an opinion on the trip to Italy. At night, I went to Shahid Labafinejad Hospital for an eye examination.
