At the appointed time, Dr Manaf brought along Dr Khaledi, the dentist, and he extracted my tooth. With local anaesthetic I felt no pain, but the injection was uncomfortable. A guard came to carry out the marriage contract.

Mr Abbas Vāʿiz Tabsi, who had come from Mashhad to visit the Imam, came to see him with a group of companions and members of the Imam's office. They discussed the situation in Mashhad and the households of Ayatollahs Sayyid ʿAbdullāh Shirāzī and Sayyid Ḥasan Ṭabātabāʾī. Qomi and [Akhwan] Marashi were discussed, and it emerged that Mr Qomi had sent someone and wanted to get close to Mr [Vaez] Tabshi. They have been ostracised for their opposition to the government. Mr Akhwan Marashi has also taken offence. Apparently, in his mosque, people have spoken out against Mr [Sayyid Kazem] Shari'atmadari has been making a show, and he has sulked. Mr [Va'iz] Tabassi has put Mr Farzaneh in his place.

The children have all gone to Noshahr. Faizeh and her husband [Hamid Lahuti] are there because of his posting to the army camp. Hamid [Lahuti] is a doctor and is serving his national service. In the evening, Afaf went to visit Mrs [Fatemeh Tabatabai, Ahmad Agha's wife]. Sadigheh, her sister, and her children, who have come from Rafsanjan, came to see us in the evening.

Ahmad-Agha came, and we discussed the war and other issues concerning the country, including the disputes between Mr [Fazlullah] Mahallati of Mahallat and the Party, and Mr Moghaddasian, the Friday Imam. We had no important news from the front or the country. I am taking antibiotics and painkillers because of a tooth extraction. They have given me a painkiller that is also a sedative. Mr [Abdolkarim] Moosavi Ardabili, who had also been to visit the Imam, came to our house and described his discussions with the Imam about the revolutionary tribunals, the government, and so on.
