Memoirs of Akbar Hashemi – July 12, 1989

I went to the parliament. [Mr. Gholamreza Aghazadeh] Minister of Oil came. Reported the trip to South Korea; Very satisfied. They are supposed to buy more oil and rebuild our oil platforms in the Persian Gulf and complete Iran-Japan petrochemicals. I said to develop relations.

Nabih Bari, the head of Amal Lebanon, came. It was a warm meeting. We had an understanding on most issues, including the type of movement in Lebanon and the quality of dealing with Syria and the Sunnis, etc., and he suggested that a council of the leaders of the Shia factions be formed under the leadership of Iran for coordination. [Mr. Sobhi Tafili and Seyed Hassan Nasrallah] the heads of Hezbollah in Lebanon came. They complained about Amal. I presented Mr. Berry's proposal, they accepted it. I told the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to work on it.

Mr. [Allameh] Seyyed [Mohammed Hossein] Fazlullah came. He asked about our policy after the imam and in our opinion about the quality of work in Lebanon and also suggested that they negotiate with the American delegation. I said it is good based on the same way as announced by us.

In the evening, I had a meeting with [Mr. Mohammad Al-Amin] Speaker of the [National Assembly of the Arab Democratic Republic] of Sahara. Then I had a meeting with Abu Musa [the leader of the Palestinian group Fatah Intifada] and Ahmed Jabreel [the leader of the People's Front of Palestine], the leaders of the two Palestinian revolutionary communities, who strongly expressed their loyalty to the Imam and the revolution; I promised to help them. I stayed in the parliament at night and did the work. my foot hurts I rested earlier than usual.
