Memoirs of Akbar Hashemi – July 10, 1982

I stayed at home and met with [my son] Mohsen, whom I had not seen for a while. I was studying and walking in the yard. The 15×12 meter yard of the house, with its garden and small pool, is not suitable for walking. The children threw Eftekhar and Mehdi into the water with their clothes on. In the evening, I had an interview with *Pasdar-e Islam* magazine—a publication of the Qom Seminary—about the war. I followed up on matters by phone. We had no important issues. I was a guest at Mr. Tavassoli's house for iftar, where there were many friends. Yasser was also with me. It was the nineteenth night of Ramadan; I stayed awake for the vigil, with prayers, Quran, and study.

Eftekhar and the children went to the "Jame'e al-Sadegh" site for the vigil ceremony. It is a large plot of land at the intersection of Valiasr and Taleghani streets, apparently formerly the Afghan embassy. Before the Revolution, the bazaaris had bought it for business. After the Revolution, when urban land regulations changed, they gave the land for building a university, which has not yet been built. Yasser also went with the Imam's grandson and his teenage friends to the Jammaran Mosque, where the vigil ceremony was held. After the morning prayer, I slept a little.
