The reports and telexes contained the news of the coup in South Yemen and its failure and the execution of the leaders of the coup. Also, the magnificent reception of the people in Pakistan to Ayatollah Khamenei has caused the surprise of the observers, the happiness of the friends and the anger of the enemies, and especially the anti-American slogans of the future. Several bills were approved in the public meeting.

Dr. [Hasan] Rouhani came before noon and we talked about the future operation. Mr. [Fazlullah] Mahalati came. He gave a report on the situation in Lebanon and informed me that the Imam has assigned the issue to my opinion regarding some foreign issues, as well as political issues. Mr. [Mohsen] Rafiq Dost came and asked for help regarding the acquisition of the large garden of Aqdasiyeh from the Mustafafan Foundation for the army, which was taken from the Baha'is. The imam has made it conditional on my agreeable opinion.

In the afternoon, one of Mehdi and Yaser's teachers came and asked for help in his work. Mr. Motahari, the representative of Zarand, came and complained that he and his associates were under pressure in Kerman. Mr. Ghaemi, the representative of Sarvostan, came and consulted with Mr. Arsanjani about the differences.

In the evening Mr. [Mohammed] Abayi [Khorasani] [Head of Qom's Islamic Propaganda Office] came. He insisted that I go to Qom more often. I emphasized to them to be more warm with Mr. [Vaez] Tabasi in Mashhad. He relied on Ayatollah Montazeri's administration to organize and limit Mahdi Hashemi's influence.

Mr. Aghazadeh [Oil Minister] and his deputies came and asked for help regarding the completion of the Abolfazl base project by the military engineering base. I participated in the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution. We had good discussions. I arrived home at eight o'clock. I listened to the interview of [Ms. Khaleda Abdul Qahar], Saddam's special secretary who took refuge in Iran.
