Memoirs of Akbar Hashemi – February 19, 1986

I went to the parliament early in the morning, but I didn't stay long in the public meeting and came to my office to take care of war affairs. During the debates between the opposing and supporting representatives, when Mr. Mousaviani, the representative of Tehran, said that the country's administration is managing affairs with mastamali, and he gave me the same ratio, the representatives objected to him and he could not finish his words. Then he apologized somehow.

On the front, due to yesterday's rain, the ground is muddy and there is no movement, and our forces are consolidating their positions. In the evening, a group of members of the parliament came and I talked to them about the war. Mr. Vahidi, the intelligence officer of the IRGC, came. We discussed the Americans' proposals regarding their hostages in Lebanon. They have asked us to help save them in exchange for giving them some war necessities.

Mr. Khalili - who lives in France - came and brought the message of the French rulers. He asked me to help rescue the French hostages. I said that France should take the first step to appreciate relations and then ask us for help.

At night we were guests of Mr. [Mousavi] Ardabili. Mr. Velayati and Mr. Aghazadeh gave the report of their trip to Algeria and the plan of measures to maintain the price of oil, and we decided on the plan and decided to sell oil at the price of "tetback" for the time being. The war and the quality of behavior with the southern neighbors of the Persian Gulf were also discussed. I went to the assembly to sleep.
