Early in the morning I went to Parliament. The bill on the Islamic councils took up most of Parliament's time, and there was intense confrontation; at the level of debate. At noon I spoke to the employee branch of the [Islamic Republic] Party, who had come to Parliament. I met with several members of Parliament. In the afternoon people from the [Army] Advisory Office came and presented reports and opinions; among other things, they proposed replacing the head of the office. They also spoke of the army personnel's concern over the growth of the Revolutionary Guard. I also met with the deputies and directors-general of the Ministry of Education and gave a speech for them. I also met with Mr. [Ali Akbar] Parvaresh. A slander against him had reached the Imam, claiming that when conveying the Imam's opinion about the governor of Isfahan at the Cabinet meeting, he had said: "If this order comes from the base of darkness, it is not good, and if it comes from the base of light, we must obey it." Mr. Parvaresh denies having made such a statement. I also met with the new head of the Civil Aviation Organization. He explained his problems and sought my endorsement.
At night I had a long private meeting with the President in my office. We discussed the ground, naval, and air forces, the [Army] Advisory Office, the war, the Hojjatieh Society, the government, Parliament, and... and made useful decisions.
