Memoirs of Akbar Hashemi – February 11, 1986

I woke up at four in the morning with the sound of anti-aircraft guns in Ahvaz and I didn't sleep anymore and started writing announcements and getting news from the battlefield. It was reported that the Najaf base withdrew its forces from Umm Rasas Island last night, but Mr. [Mohsen] Rezaei stated that he was unaware of this news and also informed that last night we captured the second Iraqi missile base in Faw and we are busy consolidating the defense positions. The offensive situation is good, but the defensive positions are still not strong, and he requested that the army's facilities be used to draw the Iraqi army's attention to other parts of the front.

I shared the results of the operation with the president. I wrote and published the fourth and fifth declarations of the camp. We informed about the progress in the FAW axis. Until this morning, we did not say anything about this axis because of misleading the enemy about the target of the attack. Col. Sohrabi and Col. Kehtari brought the operation plan in Shahr and Mandali oil region. Mr. Sayad [Shirazi] came in the afternoon. Although he was unsuccessful in carrying out the operation, his spirit is good and he promised that tomorrow he will take action to capture Bowarin Island by the 77th Division.

In the evening, the Hag site was activated in the region and they claimed to have shot down ten Iraqi planes. Mr. [Mohsen] Rafiq Dost and [Ali] Shamkhani came from the front line and told about the repelling of the Iraqi insurgents and the stabilization of the position and the plan of tonight's operations. I sent Dr. Rouhani to the sub-camps to closely examine their situation. Mr. [Mohsen] Rezaei is satisfied with the relative stability in the west of Arvand, but complains about the problems of transporting heavy equipment. Today's march was held with the unique participation of people, which is the strength and strength of the system.
