Memoirs of Akbar Hashemi – December 14, 1991

After prayer and breakfast, I wrote yesterday's memories. Mr. Omar al-Hassan Ahmad al-Bashir came and we had a private discussion for half an hour about the situation in Sudan, its neighbors and Somalia. We went to the Republic Palace together. With the presence of a group of ministers and companions of both sides, we had official talks on general issues in the relations between the two sides.

After the meeting, Dr. Velayati pointed out that I had spoken from a high position and advisedly and wanted me to compensate in the next negotiations. In front of the headquarters on the bank of the Nile River, we watched the huge Nile River. From there we went to Qasr al-Sadaqa. I had a meeting with the scholars, judges and imams on Friday and then another detailed meeting with the representatives of trade unions and Jaish al-Shaabi. In both ceremonies, there was the Quran, hymns, poems, slogans, speeches, welcome, and then my speech.

In the second session, a lady also spoke. During the ceremony, they were constantly chanting, takbeer, and tahlil, similar to our passionate Hizbullah meetings, and in imitation of us and themselves, they regularly stated that their model is our revolution. Usually, they used to say Takbeer with the names of Imam, Iran, Rahbari, Man, etc., and they also said Tahleel.

The program lasted until two o'clock in the afternoon. Between the two meetings, they brought some gifts and introduced important scholars; An orange rosary and a historical wooden basin. I reached the place of residence in the afternoon; Prayer, lunch and a little rest and start the program again.

Bashir came. We went to the square behind the airport to participate in a public event. On the way with the open jeep, people were expressing their feelings. A large crowd of women and men were gathered in the dirt field, which was very large, and they were expressing their emotions strongly.

They gave me a robe. Ivory cane and other interesting things. The Quran and Khair Moghaddam and Bashir's short speeches were performed as usual and I was invited to the podium. Interestingly, before he started speaking, he chanted like Mr. Mortezai Far. I had a short speech that was translated and every sentence was followed by people's slogans.

The community was very magnificent. We returned to the residence with Bashir. After Maghrib and Isha prayers, I met Dr. Sheikh Hassan Torabi, who is the real leader of the revolution, and a group of scholars who were with him. We had a useful and good discussion for about an hour. I heard his analysis of the situation in the Islamic world and the revolution in Sudan.

Iran is submissive to the Islamic Revolution and is concerned about the situation in Sudan and accepts that they are inspired by us and repeat our experience and our history. He said bad things about the Libyan government, that it is afraid of the US abroad and is a revolutionary against Muslims and anti-Muslims at home.

Then we had another meeting with the heads of government of Sudan. They explained history, economy, politics and political organization, lands, mines and livestock; It was interesting. I got tired Then we had a self-service dinner in the open space on the grass of the yard.

I watched some TV at night. They cover our travel programs completely. Newspapers devote most of their pages to our [travel] news. Mr. Bashir is almost never separated from the board. The residence is next to his personal house. Faiza and Yaser went to Mecca today.
