Memoirs of Akbar Hashemi – August 6, 1984

After the morning prayer, I worked in my office until ten o'clock. Most of my time was spent studying the history of Imam Reza (a.s.) for a speech at the Imam Reza (a.s.) Congress. We had a meeting with representatives of Tehran to deal with Tehran's affairs; It took two hours. There was some discussion about the form and regulations of the meeting and some discussion about the content of the work. I suggested that we take basic measures for Tehran; such as metro, sewage, housing, etc., at first there were objections; Based on the fact that if these problems of Tehran are solved, the attractiveness of Tehran will increase and the migration to Tehran will accelerate. In the last session of the parliament, this proposal was rejected with the same argument. This time I resisted, it was accepted. It was decided to follow this proposal in the next meetings.

Mr. Mousavi Jazayeri [Imam Juma Ahvaz] came. He had brought from the writings of Ashikh Mohammad Karmi. He used to say that it is the authority of the Arabs of Khuzestan and it is the source of sedition. He was talking about the blow that some of the clergy of Khuzestan suffered because of their accidental association with the community of teachers [Qom Theological Seminary] in the elections.

In the evening, the presiding committee of the parliament had a meeting about the type of cars of the representatives; It was built to be an Iranian car. The commanders of the IRGC came and brought a new plan for operations in the west and their plan for the south. One of the people who came from inside Iraq and among the opponents and fugitives of Hora had brought interesting reports. Most of their purpose was to interfere with the ongoing operation that Mr. Sayad designed. I was not convinced, but they had significant content. We decided to consult with Mr. [Ayatollah] Khamenei.
