In the reports, there was no news about the new decision of the UN Secretary General, which Mr. Mahalati said would be announced soon. We had some negotiations with Ayatollah Khamenei during last night's negotiations, and after breakfast, he went to see the Imam. During the government week, as usual, they go to the Imam's service with the cabinet.

Ahmad Agha came and said that the Imam said things about free trade and people's participation in affairs and determining the authority for the reconstruction policy, that some ministers were upset. I told Mr. Mohsen Rezaei, Shamkhani and Daftar to arrange a two-day trip to Khuzestan.

The commander of the 25th division of Karbala and a group of cadres came. Regarding the opposition of a group of people from Mazandaran to the command of Mr. Morteza Ghorbani for the Mazandaran Corps, whose decision has recently been approved by me, they complained and said that most of the army forces have returned to Mazandaran and the front is deserted.

I went to visit the [Islamic] Revolution History Foundation. Working groups gave explanations about their work methods. I visited the repository of documents, books, and magazines, and the person in charge of the computer gave explanations about the quality of his work in organizing documents and notes. An interview was conducted.

Mr. [Feridon] Mahdinejad came. He had information about Pakistan issues and Zia-ul-Haq plane crash. We went to the parliament. I read the reports and did the work until eight o'clock. I went to the meeting of the Expediency Council. The discussion was about barren lands and temporary cultivation. We had dinner there. Mr. [Ahmed] Jannati, according to the statements of Imam's representatives in the armed forces, has weakened in his decision.

After dinner, a meeting of the heads of forces was held to implement the Imam's statements today. The Prime Minister was worried and finally we convinced him that it should be implemented. In order to secure Imam's opinion regarding trade, it was agreed that the Minister of Commerce who agrees with this opinion will be proposed to the Majlis. Mr. [Syed Majid] Hedayatzadeh was discussed. Regarding the general policies, it was agreed that the undergraduate programs will come to the meeting and while reviewing them, we will determine the policy.
