Memoirs of Akbar Hashemi – April 8, 1993

On the way to the office, together with Efat, we visited residences one and two in Saad Abad to choose temporary housing for two and three months. We want to vacate our house for repairs. These days, to collect my belongings and books, the order of the house is messed up and chastity will have more problems than me.

The managers of the Revolution Housing Foundation came. Mr. [Abbas] Akhundi, [Head of the Housing Foundation] gave a work report and I encouraged them. Then, we had negotiations with Mr. [Syedhasan] Rasouli Mahalati, [Valiqieh representative at the Housing Foundation], [Abbas] Akhundi and [Mohammed] Marwat, [Deputy of the Housing Foundation], for plans and programs. I promised to help to establish a housing assistance fund for villagers and provide cheap housing.

Mr. [Nematullah] Yazidi, our ambassador came to Moscow and reported on the situation in Russia. He believes that the situation of Congress is more secure than Yeltsin. He says that despite the heavy inflation, the living conditions there are not difficult.

Mr. [Syed Mansour] Razavi, [Secretary General of Administrative and Employment Organization of the country], [Akbar] Turkan, [Defense Minister] and [Mohammed Jaafar] Ikram Jafari, [Deputy of Management Development] came. They brought a plan to reform the structure of government organizations. I found part of the discussion to be significant and part of it illogical; I decided to read it to express my opinion.

I did the work until the evening. Dr. Adeli, [CEO of Central Bank] came. He gave a report on the trip to Pakistan and approved the establishment of a joint bank for Eco, and specified the text of the directive for the institutions to refer to the banks to meet their needs. They decided to announce that the banks are ready to pay their needs.

It rained a lot last night and today. I came home in the evening. I wrote the memories of yesterday and today. Last night, Agha Jalal had put my diary in a box along with the books.
