Israel attacked Arafat's headquarters with artillery and machine guns, and several of his bodyguards were wounded, but he was not hurt.

I gave a report on the performance of the Assembly and the Leader also spoke, with praise and remembrance.They wanted to know the outcome of my negotiations with their son Nasser about his case. In the evening, Dr. [Mohammadreza] Fartoukzadeh came. We talked about the Fatemieh University of Qom. I consulted him about my eyes.

Today, the clashes continued in occupied Palestine. More than 30 Palestinians have been martyred and a number of others have been wounded. Several Israeli soldiers were killed and wounded, and several tanks were destroyed. Almost every city in the West Bank is occupied. [U.S. Secretary of State Colin] Powell, who is supposed to come to Palestine to mediate, has asked Israel to withdraw immediately, but Israel has not said yes, only agreeing to meet [U.S. Special Representative for Foreign Affairs Anthony] with [Yasser] Arafat, the Palestinian Authority.  

In Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, 50 people were arrested for mass demonstrations despite the ban. The student demonstrations in Egypt are widespread and intense. The Syrian Foreign Minister did not participate in the Arab Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Cairo in protest against the lack of severance of relations between Arab countries. Today's nationwide demonstrations in Iran have had a wide repercussions.  

After [U.S. President George] Bush said that Arafat did not take advantage of the opportunity and that better people would be found to replace him, Israel attacked Arafat's headquarters with artillery and machine guns, and several of his bodyguards were wounded, but he was not hurt.
