I studied for Friday sermons at home until half past ten. They brought me the reports and I read them. The UN Security Council has admitted that chemical weapons were used against Iranian forces, but it did not explicitly mention the name of Iraq. I consulted with the Prime Minister.
I studied for Friday sermons at home until half past ten. They brought me the reports and I read them. The UN Security Council has admitted that chemical weapons were used against Iranian forces, but it did not explicitly mention the name of Iraq. I consulted with the Prime Minister. It was decided that while welcoming this positive step, we will be sued due to lack of openness.
I delivered Friday prayer sermons, one on [continuation of the discussion] social justice and the other on the causes and effects of the civil war [between Iran and Iraq]. I told Mr. Natiq [Nuri], the Minister of the Interior, to stop the indiscriminate digging of streets for water, electricity, telephone, gas, etc. The headquarter [organization] of Friday prayers requested for current expenses. The imam gives an amount, but it is little.
Colonel [Mustafa] Tarabi came in the evening and gave a report on the defense situation. He suggested that the training of people to defend against possible chemical attacks of Iraq should be started. Mr. Sayad [Shirazi] came and while presenting the progress report of the operation plan, asked for strong support about the problems he has with the IRGC and the army.
At night, a red alert was declared and the anti-aircraft guns worked, but later it became clear that the Iraqi planes did not reach Tehran's airspace. In the afternoon, Mr. [Hossein] Alayi, one of the IRGC commanders who is a colleague of Mr. Sayad [Shirazi] in future operations, came and expressed his displeasure with Mr. Sayad's plan.
