The large number of questions, bills, and single- or double-urgency motions prevents adherence to this ten-day deadline and leads to protests from representatives.
Today in the session, I had a sharp clash with Mr. Emad al-Din Karimi, representative of Nowshahr, and Mr. [Ali] Golzadeh Ghafouri. It was their fault, but I should not have lost my temper. May God help me to remain in control of myself and be able to make a formal apology to them as well. Mr. Karimi raised an unwarranted constitutional point of order and wanted to declare Thursday a holiday, in which case the efficiency of Parliament would be greatly diminished. Mr. Ghafouri spoke in slogans, which upset me.
In the afternoon, we had a Presidium meeting. We arranged next week's schedule and decided to pay up to three thousand Tomans in rent allowance to needy representatives, and we made decisions regarding the provision of institutional housing for representatives.
Mr. [Morteza] Alviri reported the capture of the remnants of the Forqan group and the assailant of Mr. [Abdal-Rahim] Rabbani Shirazi, along with their confessions. A group of female high school students from Behshahr county—three hundred of them—had come to Parliament and had lunch at Parliament. I led congregational prayers with them in the Parliament yard and spoke to them briefly. They chanted good slogans. At night, the family of my late brother Haj Qasem were our guests; idle talk was brought up, which I did not like; I went to sleep earlier because I had not rested in the afternoon and was tired as well.
Effat and a group of her female friends went today to visit the Imam's wife, but due to the heavy crowd of people in the alleys and streets around the Imam's house, they were unable to reach the house, so they stayed at Mr. Do'agoo's residence before returning.
