In the Arab Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, the Issue of Iraq is Controversial.

Full Diary Entry:

The meeting of Arab foreign ministers, aimed at preparing the agenda for the Arab summit, is under focus; the issue of Iraq remains a point of contention. It seems they have yet to reach an agreement. Some are advocating for the lifting of sanctions and normalization of relations with Iraq, while others are calling for continued isolation of Iraq and pressure on it, including from Kuwait. In Britain, over 300 members of Parliament have requested the government to remove the Mojahedin [People's Mujahedin Organization of Iran] from the list of terrorist organizations and to cease support for the Iranian government. They stated that Mr. [Mohammad] Khatami, [the president], is no different from other officials of the Iranian Revolution and is simply the smiling face of the same hardline regime.

Despite having only 5% of the world’s population, it has over two million prisoners, 70% of whom are from racial and religious minorities in America. It has also been revealed that human rights violations and the execution of juveniles in America are widespread, even as they criticize opposing governments using the same argument.
