Final Review Prior to the Publication of Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani's 1362 Journals

Visit by a Resident of Rafsanjan to Hashemi at His Home and His Contact with Sheikh Abbas Vaez Tabasi to Resolve Their Property Issues

Full Text of the Daily Journal:

I spent the entire day at home. I studied for tomorrow's sermons, read bulletins, and prepared the book on the records of 1362 [Calmness and Challenge] for publication. In the afternoon, Tahereh, a resident of Rafsanjan, came with her husband, Mr. Jamshid Andarza. They were there to follow up on their claimed inherited land that is caught up with the properties of the Astan Quds [Razavi]. I called Mr. [Abbas Vaez] Tabasi, [the custodian of Astan Quds Razavi]; they are in need, and I hope this gets resolved. Due to their matters, I had to postpone my Arafah prayer, but it's worth it.

Israeli aggression against the Palestinians continues, but public opinion in Israel is gradually turning against [Ariel] Sharon, [the Prime Minister of Israel], who previously had widespread public support. According to a recent poll, 57% stated that Israel should withdraw from the settlements, while only 38% support Sharon's approach. Israeli newspapers explicitly criticize the government, highlighting security and economic issues. Many former immigrants have decided to return to their countries, leading to long lines in front of embassies.

The European Union and the United States have encountered serious disagreements regarding Israel's treatment of [Yasser] Arafat and the Palestinians, with their dispute over the "axis of evil" issue being no less significant. They accuse the U.S. of naivety, adventurism, and unilateralism. In the crash of an American helicopter in southern Palestine, nine soldiers were killed, and three were rescued. Reports of the crash of an American plane have also emerged, as concerns grow about the anxiety of American soldiers in Afghanistan. The killing of Daniel Pearl, the American journalist from the [Wall Street Journal], in [Karachi], Pakistan has also been confirmed, with [George] Bush extending condolences to his pregnant wife.

A Russian military cargo Tupolev plane was also shot down, resulting in the deaths of 17 soldiers, marking bad news for the Russian aircraft industry. In Sri Lanka, Tamil guerrillas signed an agreement with the government after decades of armed struggle. In Colombia, the government officially entered into war with guerrillas. [Crown Prince] Abdullah of Saudi Arabia stated that if Israel withdraws from the territories occupied in 1967, it will recognize Israel, a position welcomed by the West and opposed by Palestinian militants.
