Full Text of the Daily Memo:

Dr. [Abdullah] Jasebi, [President of the Islamic Azad University], came regarding matters of the Azad University and presented proposals for decentralization and enhancing the authority of regional branches. He also suggested establishing a nationwide party. Discussions were held about the leadership representation at the university and the union of moderate students, as well as collaboration with Mr. [Mohsen] Araki in managing his college in Oxford, England.

My brother Mohammad, [Executive Deputy to the President], came. He mentioned that he had been offered the presidency of Customs or the [Civil] Aviation Organization or the Social Security Organization, but he refused. In the afternoon, the deputies of [Mr. Hossein Kamali], the Minister of Labor [and Social Affairs], came and expressed dissatisfaction with Mr. Kamali's removal from the cabinet. They suggested bringing him to the Expediency Council. Mr. [Alireza] Mahjoub, [President of the Workers' House], requested that the issue of early retirement for workers, which had come to the Expediency Council due to disagreements between the Parliament and the Guardian Council, be approved sooner.

All proposed cabinet members by Mr. [Seyyed Mohammad] Khatami received a confidence vote from the Parliament, which surprised observers who thought the protests, criticisms, and opposition from parliamentarians were serious.

At noon, a mourning delegation from the Presidency came to commemorate the days of Fatimiyyah and held a mourning ceremony. I also gave a brief speech for them. In the evening, I went to the Hosseinieh of Imam Khomeini to participate in the mourning ceremony led by the Leader. Mr. Ahmad Khatami gave a speech; while he had some good points, he also made weak arguments.
