I was at home. The day was spent reading, resting, and meeting with the children and relatives. Mehdi, [CEO of the National Fuel Consumption Optimization Organization], gave a report on his trip to Argentina, England, and Italy to learn about the technology for converting cars to run on gas. Mr. Abbas Safarian, head of the Border Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that the ministry plans to investigate ownership documents for the three islands and prepare for the possible presentation of the issue in international forums.

The media coverage of Iran’s missile attacks on the bases of the Monafeqin [Mujahedin-e Khalq] in Iraq is still ongoing. The U.S. has said that the major oil-consuming countries are forming an organization called "OPECk" to counter OPEC. [Ariel] Sharon, [Prime Minister of Israel], announced that he is ready to resume negotiations with the Palestinians, and the European Union has declared Israel responsible for the worsening situation in the Middle East.

The Revolutionary Court, in a detailed statement, has announced several charges against the detained national-religious activists. Amir, Zahra’s son, came with his wife and children. I gave them New Year's gifts. Effat attended a mourning ceremony for Iraqi Arabs at night and participated in the chest-beating rituals.
