Full Text of the Daily Entry:

The Infrastructure Commission [of the Expediency Council] held a joint meeting with the Economic Commission to find a policy for securing additional liquidity for the housing sector, in order to meet the needs of the people and activate related industries. Various proposals were presented, but we did not reach a conclusion. It was decided that the two commissions would separately review solutions.

At noon, Mohsen [the Chairman and CEO of the Tehran Metro Company] came and sought help regarding the delay in the construction of the [Shahid Hemmat] metro station due to a restriction imposed by the Imam Khomeini Complex. We had lunch together with Iffat.

In the afternoon, Mr. [Mohammad] Honardoust, [the Deputy for Communications and International Affairs at the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting Organization], came. He said that they had expected that the policy of national power declared by the Leader would yield results; however, the response to Mr. [Mehdi] Karroubi's letter [the Speaker of the Parliament regarding the inquiry into the Broadcasting Organization] indicated a clear retreat in the face of leftist pressures, which seems to reinforce the power of others. He had suggestions regarding the work of the [Expediency Council]. I said it is uncertain whether it will come to the Council; the Parliament might pass another resolution that the Guardian Council could accept. Mr. Karroubi made a mistake in asking the Leader to permit reforms in the Council, and the Leader also erred in agreeing to this; legally, such permission should be granted to the Parliament.

Mr. [Seyyed Mohammad] Mir Mohammadi, [the representative of Qom], came. He sought to compel Jamia al-Zahra [Qom] to allocate part of the Zanbilabad Garden to the people of Qom for the creation of a public park.

Mr. [Fereydoun] Vardinejad, the CEO of the [Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA)], came along with a female employee of the agency who sought assistance for studying abroad, to which I replied that it did not concern me. Mr. Vardinejad stated that the Chinese government had not yet approved his assignment to the embassy, and due to ongoing disputes, the government had not been able to find a replacement for him [as the head of IRNA], so they might not allow him to go.

Mr. [Seyyed Hadi] Hashemi, the son-in-law of Ayatollah Montazeri, and two of his supporters have been arrested, and a medical team has visited him in Qom.
