Sheikh Ali Mohaddesi Sawji was a revolutionary cleric who had served as the Friday Prayer Leader and Shari’a Ruler of Saveh, a representative in the first to third terms of Parliament from Saveh, and in the fourth and fifth terms from Tehran. He was very well-known in Parliament. After the fifth Parliament, he worked as a faculty member at the Faculty of Theology of the Islamic Azad University of Tehran and also served as the Imam of a mosque.

His son, Sheikh Mohammad Hassan Mohaddesi Sawji, unlike his father's views, leans more towards the thoughts of Ayatollah Montazeri and his circle, and as such, has faced persecution from the Special Clergy Court.

Full Text of the Daily Memo:

Mr. [Mahdi] Nowzari, the village head of Bahraman Noug, came. He complained about the lack of cooperation from the executive officials of the province in fully implementing the resolutions for the district and city of Bahraman, stating that urban institutions have not yet been established and are still managed like a village. He mentioned that due to the disagreement between Ferdowsieh and Ismailabad, they have not been able to identify the location for the second district office of Noug.

Mr. Siraj [al-Din Mousavi], our ambassador in Pakistan, came. He mentioned that they have taken the responsibility of protecting Shia personalities upon themselves; both costs have been reduced, and they are more satisfied. He suggested that the leadership should console and lift restrictions on Ayatollah [Hossein Ali] Montazeri and Mr. [Abdullah] Noori.

In the afternoon, Mr. [Jacques] Diouf, the President of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), came. He is a Muslim from Senegal. He said that the organization’s budget has been reduced by 14 percent, and practically no significant work has been done to feed the hungry. There are about 800 million hungry people in the world, and developed countries are unwilling to play a significant role in solving the problem. Sometimes, when they do provide assistance, it is done directly with the relevant governments for the purpose of gaining concessions instead of through the FAO.

I had an interview with IRIB for the anniversary of the imposed war. I spoke about the causes and factors leading to the outbreak of the war, its prolongation, and the achievements of the defense. For the funeral of the late [Ali] Mohaddesi Sawji, I went to the Arg Mosque and consoled his children. Today, the Security Council of the United Nations held a session on Palestine and received a good reception for the proposed resolution from the Arabs. I stayed late in my office; Efat is traveling with Fatima.
