Unfortunately, a Tupolev airplane belonging to Iran Airtour, en route from Tehran to Khorramabad with 107 passengers and 13 crew members, crashed this morning 25 kilometers northwest of Khorramabad, colliding with a mountain and disintegrating. As of now—10 PM—rescue teams have been unable to recover any bodies, and several members of parliament have called for the resignation of the Minister of Roads and Transportation.

Dr. [Abbasali] Zali, the head of Iran's Statistical Center, and other officials from the statistical sector came to present a report on their work status and needs. I spoke about the necessity of developing statistical knowledge and criticized the weaknesses in the unemployment reports and economic indicators.

Most international media are covering the extensive participation of the Iranian people in the [February 11] rally yesterday and the unity of factions against the threat posed by [George] Bush, the [President of the United States]. Criticism of Bush has intensified, but Bush and other American leaders continue to emphasize their statements.

Mr. [Mohammadreza] Sadegh, the deputy secretary of the Expediency Discernment Council, came and said that no one but you can resolve the disputes and the damages resulting from them, requesting that I take action to coordinate the movements. Mr. [Masoud] Raghni Zanjani, the former head of the Planning and Budget Organization, also expressed concern about the management situation in the country and the danger from the United States, asking for my intervention. He also expressed complaints about the leadership regarding the investigation order related to the ten million toman bonus granted by the board of directors of Kalasmin Company due to his good management and the company's profitability. This leadership action has caused a resignation from the company's CEO, resulting in losses for the company. He mentioned that he is currently working on reforming the national budgeting system and that the third plan, with the help of him and Mr. [Masoud] Nili, has been prepared in line with the first and second plans, but the government is unable to implement it.

In the evening, Mr. [Mohammad] Shariatmadari, the Minister of Commerce, arrived and reported that Mr. [Mehdi] Karroubi, the Speaker of the Parliament, criticized the discrimination in the announcement of names in [Shahram Jazayeri's] trial, questioning why certain names were not mentioned. He reported on the actions of the Ministry of Justice and criticized the conduct of the [Inspectorate] Organization.
