Full Text of the Daily Notes:

Mr. Hossein Marashi, the representative from Kerman, came by and reported that a faction of leftist hardliners among the representatives has decided to resist and confront the Judiciary and the Guardian Council, possibly believing that external pressures will strengthen their position. I responded that if foreign entities act in their favor, they will lose their internal position, making it easier for them to be pursued; it would not be in their interest to escalate tensions.

Mr. Seyyed Mohammad Baqir Mohri, Secretary-General of the Shia Scholars Association in Kuwait, visited. He noted that following September 11 and the attention of the U.S. and the West on suppressing Salafists, the situation for Shia communities in Arab countries has improved, with greater acceptance that Shia movements are organized and operate under more acceptable criteria. In Kuwait, some Shia groups are demanding the official recognition of Shia endowments that currently lack proper administration. However, another group, identifying themselves as Hezbollah and maintaining ties with the leadership office, opposes this demand, arguing it would allow Kuwait’s endowment authority to dominate Shia religious centers, despite the fact that the income from these endowments is currently being allocated to non-Shia causes. He mentioned that Mr. Seyyed Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi, the head of the Judiciary, is under significant pressure but believes that if you support him, he can withstand these pressures. He has sensed from your statements in Qom that you do not agree with their actions. I noted that there are issues with their conduct that I would address directly with him.

Mr. Shahpour Marhaba, a former representative from Astara, criticized the reformist government's lack of attention to development and the needs of the people. He stated that the people of Astara have clearly expressed that their development achievements are due to the Reconstruction Government. He requested that I inform Mr. Morteza Alviri, the Mayor of Tehran, to assign him responsibility for one of Tehran’s municipal districts, as he had previously served as the mayor of Astara.

Mr. Masih Mohajeri, an advisor to the President and editor-in-chief of the newspaper Jomhouri Eslami, visited to discuss issues related to Afghanistan, the dangers posed by the U.S., the Palestinian situation, and the revival of the Islamic Republic Party.

In the afternoon, members of the Central Council of the Producers' Association and the Producers' Faction in the Majlis arrived. Representatives Gholam Heydar Bay Salami, Abolfazl Rezavi, Mohammad Hossein Khalili, Sa'dollah Tasouji, and Mohammad Bagherian Nejad, representing Khaf, Naein, Sarvestan, Kazeroon, and the President of the House of Industry, spoke and expressed their support for the policies of the Reconstruction era, considering your thoughts to be solutions to the country's problems. They complained about the insecurity in the country affecting investment, entrepreneurship, and production and requested support for proposals to address these issues in the Expediency Discernment Council. I pledged to assist in improving the social climate through speeches, interviews, and visits, and to intervene to alleviate tensions among factions and manage crises as in the past.

General Pervez Musharraf, the President of Pakistan, retreated again in his speech yesterday against India, dissolving several Kashmiri Mujahideen groups, including the Sipah-e-Sahaba and the Ja'fari Movement. However, India deemed this insufficient and called for the extradition of the accused. Reports indicated that two U.S. cruise missiles hit areas in Herat, Afghanistan, though the specific targets remain unknown.

In the Majlis, discussions today among representatives regarding their disagreements with the Judiciary took considerable time, with approximately 60 representatives leaving the session in protest against the imprisonment of Mr. Hossein Laghmanian, the representative from Hamadan.
