Full Text of the Daily Notes:

Yesterday, last night, and today, heavy snowfall and rainfall have affected all of Iran, with devastating floods reported in Fars and Bushehr, resulting in loss of life. Along my route to the office, the entire city appeared covered in white, except for the willow trees in the middle of Modarres Highway, which cannot bear the weight of the snow on their leaves.

In the Assembly of the Expediency Discernment Council, the policies related to Article 44 concerning the strengthening of the private sector were discussed but left unresolved. Mr. Mehdi Karroubi, the Speaker of the Majlis, mentioned that there were significant difficulties during the last session, where leftist hardliners accused him of causing disruptions in the reform process, which led him to respond firmly. Mr. Bijan Namdar Zanganeh, the Minister of Oil, expressed a desire for me to travel to the south to view oil projects.

Guests at lunch included Mr. Abbas Vaez Tabasi, Ahmad Jannati, Mohammad Ali Mohammadi Kermani, Qorbani Ali Durri Najafabadi, and Ali Akbar Nategh Nouri. Mr. Tabasi expressed criticism of Ahmad Tavakkoli regarding unmeasured remarks and raised concerns about U.S. activities in Afghanistan. Mr. Jannati stated that the Guardian Council does not regard members of the Majlis as having judicial immunity. There was also opposition to the release of Mr. Hossein Laghmanian, a representative from Hamadan, and the Judiciary's retreat was seen as emboldening the members of the Majlis and the reformist faction. For the future, it was suggested that control over the situation is necessary, followed by the formation of a comprehensive party, preferably reviving the Islamic Republic Party.

In the evening, Dr. Eisa Kalantari, President of the Farmers' House, and his team arrived. They brought the charter of the Farmers' House and discussed strategies for strengthening agriculture to be incorporated into overall policies aimed at attracting more investment, training, unification, and mechanization.

My remarks during the Friday sermon, responding to George W. Bush, the President of the United States, and Tony Blair, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, which described their statements as audacious and disrespectful, have received widespread attention globally. Yesterday, their threats were broadly reported and overshadowed today. Israel continues to keep the issue of the arms-carrying ship in the spotlight, putting pressure on Yasser Arafat. Arafat has responded passively by ordering the arrest of three officials on charges of involvement in arms smuggling.

The upcoming Arab summit in Lebanon, which includes Muammar Gaddafi, the leader of Libya, is also a hot topic. A group in Lebanon has threatened that if Gaddafi arrives without Imam Musa Sadr, alive or dead, they will take significant action. Gaddafi has requested a change in the summit location, which the Lebanese leaders do not support.

The U.S. has announced its intention to remain in Afghanistan and Central Asia for an extended period, a decision condemned by Russia. Members of the Mojahedin Khalq Organization have begun to leave Iraq due to restrictive orders from Saddam Hussein, the President of Iraq.
