Full Text of the Daily Entry:

Mr. [Mohammad al-Rifa’ah Tantawi], head of the Egyptian Interests Office in Iran, came for a farewell visit. After praising the Iranian revolution and recalling my role in its victory, defense, reconstruction, and the normalization of relations with Saudi Arabia, he requested my intervention to resolve the issues between Iran and Egypt.

He said that Mr. [Kamal] Kharrazi, [the Foreign Minister], told Mr. [Hosni] Mubarak, [the President of Egypt], that Egypt should declare the Camp David Accords [between Egypt and Israel] dead to remove the obstacles to improving relations, and that Mr. Mubarak replied that if he said this, it would lead to a renewed war with Israel; is Iran ready to participate in a war on our behalf, or will it stand with us like other Islamic countries, just in words and slogans? I replied that this statement would not cause war, and Israel would act on its interests regardless of this statement.

Mr. [Ali] Larijani, [the head of IRIB], came and expressed his grievances about the leader’s retreat. He suggested postponing the investigation into IRIB; I did not accept this.

Dr. [Abdollah] Jassbi, [the president of Azad University], came and reported on the affairs of Azad University and his collaboration with Mr. [Abdul Majid] Maadi Khah, [the head of the Revolutionary History Foundation], regarding the documentation of the history of the revolution. He consulted with me about responding to a letter from Mr. [Mohammad Ali] Kian Nejad, the secretary of the Supreme Cultural Revolution Council, regarding the dissolution of a three-member committee; he is considering establishing a national party.

In the evening, the family of martyr [Hossein] Akbari, who died in the July 7 incident, came. They sought help regarding their housing and living conditions; two of their daughters are students, two others are in the education system, and their son is studying to become a cleric.

In northern England, bloody clashes have occurred between Asians and English racists in Bradford, [located in West Yorkshire], resulting in hundreds of injuries, including 120 police officers, along with damage to shops and cars. This is the fourth such incident in recent months. Similar events have also occurred in Germany, and the increasing number of Asian immigrants in the United States has intensified the situation, highlighting Western countries’ needs for their labor. A storm in Strasbourg, France, and in the Philippines has also caused significant casualties.
