Memoirs of Akbar Hashemi - April 15, 2001 - After the Arrest of Ibrahim Sheikh, Hashemi's Account of Akbar Atrai Being Beaten by Members of the Office of Consolidation of Unity

Following the arrest of Ibrahim Sheikh, Hashemi recounts the beating of Akbar Atrai, a member of the Office of Consolidation of Unity.

In this context, Radio Farda reported: Unidentified individuals severely beat Akbar Atrai, a member of the Central Council of the Office of Consolidation of Unity in Tehran, to the extent that the forensic doctor prescribed ten days of rest for him. Atrai claimed that his assailants beat him for more than half an hour in the presence of law enforcement officers, and the beating continued at the police station!

I was at home. Listening to the mourning recitation of the late [Seyyed Mohammad] Kowsari, which was broadcast from the Jamaran Hosseiniyeh, moved me; we don't have a mourner as good as him. I spent most of my time studying. Faezeh and her children were here for lunch. They went to Rafsanjan in the afternoon. She said she no longer wants to deal with women's issues. For dinner, they brought food from the Muharram donations. In the morning, they also brought halim.

The issue between the United States and China remains unresolved; the United States has stated that it will not apologize and has warned China that the issue could turn into an international disaster, posing a significant threat. Additionally, U.S. stock prices fell again.

It was announced that security officials from Israel and the [Palestinian Authority] will meet tonight with the presence of American agents to negotiate, and the [Islamic Jihad] organization in Palestine warned that no negotiations should take place. The beating of Mr. [Akbar] Atrai, one of the leaders of the Office of Consolidation of Unity, by unidentified forces has given foreign media new material to provoke. This follows the arrest of another one of their leaders, Mr. Ibrahim Sheikh, [a member of the Central Council of the Office of Consolidation of Unity].
