Hashemi's Account of the Debates and Disputes Among the Members of the Assembly of Experts and His Efforts to Control Them

Full Text of the Daily Memo:

In the morning and afternoon, the Assembly of Experts held a session. At times, there were limited disputes regarding speeches, which I managed; for instance, there was an objection to the speech of Mr. Ali Mohammad Dashti, the representative from Fars, and conversely, there was an objection to the speech of Mr. Mir Akbar Ghafari Qareh-Bagh or Mr. Ali Akbar Gharishi, representatives from West Azerbaijan, by the supporters of the Second of Khordad. Mr. Qareh-Bagh criticized the duality in the country's management and called for strengthening the position of leadership, stating that they want to reduce the leadership to the level of the Queen of England.

In the evening, the representatives of the Assembly of Experts were my guests. Messrs. Abbas Kabiri, Ahmad Khatami, Ali Akbar Gharishi, Ahmad Saberi, and Ali Meshkini spoke. I also gave a brief talk regarding the threats to the system. I presented each of them with a complete set of the book "Al-Masadir," which consists of forty volumes.

In West Jerusalem, a bomb exploded, injuring 12 Zionists. In Asaluyeh, there was a severe clash between Iranian and foreign workers, mostly Koreans, resulting in many foreigners leaving the area in protest, causing some destruction. In Durban, pressures on America and Israel continue, and America has introduced the conference as being under the administration of Islamic countries.
