September 4, 1941, one day after the start of the attack by British and Soviet forces on Iran, Reza Shah's government tried to prevent the expansion of the crisis through diplomacy.

Allied forces had entered Iranian territory from the north and south, and the resistance of the Iranian army against two great military powers quickly faced difficulties. Under these circumstances, Tehran asked the United States to mediate to end the attack and reduce the crisis.

This effort yielded no results. The occupation of Iran continued, and less than three weeks later, Reza Shah abdicated. September 4, 1941, from this perspective, is the day Iran's military crisis seriously entered the diplomatic stage.
