The Semnan bear massacre and the formation of a symbolic day

On this same date, images of the killing of a mother bear and her two cubs in the Semirom region of Isfahan were released. The publication of these images sparked widespread reactions from environmental activists and animal rights advocates. Subsequently, the "Animal Rights Watch" symbolically designated the 20th of Shahrivar as the Day of the Struggle Against Violence Against Animals.

This occasion, unlike the official calendar occasions of the country, was the result of a civil and environmental movement.
