20 August 19791979

The Kurdistan crisis and the dispatch of forces to Sanandaj.

On August 20, 1979, clashes intensified in Paveh. Khomeini had issued an order on August 18 to dispatch forces to the region, and on August 20, the order was issued for the ground, air, and naval forces of the army to move toward Sanandaj.

Therefore, August 20, 1979, cannot be considered merely a day about the "Press Law" or the "confiscation of property." What was taking shape at that juncture was much more fundamental; the revolution had moved from the stage of overthrowing the previous government to the stage of building the new government.
