The approval of the Press Law by the Revolutionary Council; a tool for controlling the media.

The Revolutionary Council approved a new press law for Iran, which remained in effect for six years before being replaced by the current press law (passed in 1985 during the tenure of Mohammad Khatami as Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance).

This law, in appearance, was intended to regulate the media space; but in practice, it became one of the key tools for controlling and restricting the press.
