When Chaldiran split Iran in two.

On August 23, 1514, the Battle of Chaldiran took place on the plains of Chaldiran in northwestern Iran. The Qizilbash army of Iran, under the command of Shah Ismail I of the Safavid dynasty, was defeated by the Ottoman army led by Sultan Selim I .
This battle is one of the most significant in Iran's history. It demonstrated that Iran, despite Safavid power, was vulnerable against the Ottomans. This weakness directly contributed to the loss of significant territories in subsequent years .
Chaldiran was not just a battle; it was a wound that, even after more than five hundred years, has not healed.
