The first Shiraz Arts Festival opened on September 11, 1967 . The opening ceremony was held at Persepolis, and the festival program was a combination of Iranian music, Eastern music, theater, and Western classical music . Iranian and international artists participated in the festival . In subsequent years, the Shiraz Arts Festival became one of Iran's most renowned international cultural events and continued until 1977 .
