On September 3, 1915, Rais Ali Delvari, one of the main figures of the resistance in southern Iran against British forces during World War I, was killed.
Rais Ali Delvari and the forces of Tangestan and Dashti, despite limited resources, resisted the British military presence in southern Iran. He was eventually killed during a night raid by a gunshot from behind.
The name of Rais Ali Delvari later became a symbol of the resistance of the people of southern Iran, and the 12th of Shahrivar has been registered in the official calendar of the country as the "National Day of the Struggle against British Colonialism."
