26 August 19781978

The last day of Amouzegar's government before Sharif-Emami's premiership.

On September 4, 1978, Iran was in one of the most critical weeks before the revolution. The burning of the Rex Cinema in Abadan had occurred a few days earlier, and protests continued in various cities.

The government of Jamshid Amouzegar was under severe political pressure, and the decision to change the prime minister was on the agenda of the government.

September 4, 1978, should be considered the last day of Amouzegar's government and the threshold of a government change; a change that was supposed to contain the crisis under the slogan of a "national reconciliation government," but it did not succeed.
