When Isfahan Was Still Under Martial Law

Just one day after the declaration of martial law in Isfahan, on August 13, 1978, the city was still in a state of semi-siege. Strict regulations such as night curfews, closed markets, and the closure of universities were being enforced.

In Najafabad and Shahreza, demonstrations also continued, and military forces were trying to regain control.

In those days, martial law was not just a declaration; in practice, it meant that any decision could face the people's reaction in the streets, and the law, more than being a limit on power, was a tool to justify repression.
